I still don’t get it. If you have to constantly nanny it - be ready to jump in - why not just drive? Driving is easier than this.

TLDR - what I meant was outside of things they *have* to do.
It’s a complete farce when it’s cheaper to send a kid to university in the UK/Australia/NZ, even with foreigner fees, flights etc..

Yep sadly. Seems like there should be a whole other level of government which deals with the environment, infrastructure and day to day stuff that is long term and no politician sees the short term benefit of.
100% agreed. I’d re-test all drivers every 5 years too. Which might be unpopular, but giving someone a licence at 16 and expecting by the time they’re 40 to be doing things right is absurd.
Very true. He might drive at hearse speed everywhere and there are crashes going on around him. He’s oblivious and gives his car a little tap of joy after putting it back in the garage.
I watched a very old man reverse out of his parking spot in his mint condition 1995 Lexus. I started counting in my head after 30 seconds of waiting, it was genuinely 2 minutes to reverse out, turn and proceed. Admittedly he hit nothing. But surely he’s a crash waiting to happen.
People make catastrophic financial decisions daily. I wish people would pause for a moment and think it through. But they want the shiny thing ASAP. 3 months later once the shiny has worn off and they’ve got a huge car payment they’re looking at another 50+ months of payments.
