The new VW ID4 has rear drum brakes. Insane.

Toyota Kijang in Bali in 2002. Felt like it had about 45 hp, steering was worryingly vague when not vibrating so violently it made me feel ill, brakes and hand brake to stop it, epically rusting. Passenger door would not latch and would open up on bends. Total death trap.
Hey-yoooooooooo, Musk loving and God fearing. That’s a new one.
For me it was in about 2010 when he was forcing staff to work 6 days a week and 12 hour shifts at Tesla and saying “we’re not fucking Toyota just stick it together” (on two ton+ cars that cost >$100k and ‘drive themselves’).
It’s a hatchback
The hill I die on most weeks is someone calling this ‘an accident’.
36 EVs have <5 second 0-60
Because that’s it’s only party trick.
I am starting to wonder if the manufacturers might be forced to slow them down. Making 0-60 in c.3 seconds easily attainable seems totally irresponsible.
Yup, same with the UK. Rails and canals used to move everything then it was ultra short trips from there.
I still treasure the $1.36 check I got from the class action against Linkedin.
I don’t think it’s an equal split, I’d imagine some people got royally screwed, lost jobs and all the knock on effects etc.. vs. others who suffered in less impactful ways.
This hurt a bit!
My boss, who makes triple what I do, has no kids, bought a new base Corolla as his daily. Has nothing to prove to anyone so why go into a load of debt for a 15 minute commute?
Touche
Don’t they teach brevity in engineering?
Tesla would be better served doing vehicles for the last 10 miles of distribution. Electric vehicles work well for final stage delivery, stop-start, ‘idling’, waiting etc.. Batteries are not good at sitting at 60mph for 8 hours.
It’s not worth ending a company employing tens of thousands of Americans because the CEO says stupid stuff on Twitter.
C-HR
I feel a bit stupid admitting this, but I thought Merkur was just a weird way Americans said ‘Mercury’. I always thought these were under the Mercury Ford brand. These were always just a Ford Sierra where I grew up.
