Schools near me in So Cal appear to be the only ones doing it over car parks. As you say, if you fly into e.g. LAX all the flat roofs of factories are covered in solar.
The risk is low compared to the absolute cretins that drive around me everyday texting or just such low quality drivers they can’t keep their car between the white lines.
