I ALWAYS tip. Everyone. My mom told me to always always tip people who perform a service for you (waitstaff, nail techs, baggage handlers at airports etc). And on my friends birthday last year the waitress FOLLOWED US OUT OF THE RESTAURANT to confront us about not tipping her enough. Not that we didn’t tip at all, but…

I was really offended by a tip line on my receipt at a self serve fro-yo place recently. Like, I did all the work of prepping this perfect serving of overpriced fro-yo, why do I owe you a tip?

I feel so confused and awkward about tipping at coffee shops or places I get take-out. I have a friend who worked as a cashier at a coffee shop, and I’d go visit and get a latte. “Uhhh, here’s a dollar for smiling, I guess?” She definitely had voiced before that people should tip. I realize they get crappy pay.

I had a cashier at a coffee shop shame me for not tipping on an iced coffee. As in - she said (as she walked by me outside) that she took my photo because I didn’t tip.

I can’t imagine it tastes better and is cheaper/easier than just buying heat-n-eat food from Trader Joe’s.

Opinion: everyone should have to survive off of service industry jobs and wages for a year. It would make society a nicer place.
