The 737MAX is a stupid and lazy, but not in itself an overly unsafe or unstable design. But it would (and really should) have required a retraining for the pilots – which would have been expensive, making the 737MAX uncompetitive with the Airbus models.

1st gear: I suggest a small campaign donation to the CDU, Germany’s center-right party which is full of people who absolutely aren’t corrupt as hell, they merely try to provide for their family and friends (with tax money) and just can’t seem to remember where that black briefcase full of money came from.
