There are some few exceptions to your rule (Pagani Huayra, Koenigsegg), but I definitely concur with the overall sentiment.

The aptly named Opel Astra OPC X-treme: a real, barely disguised DTM touring car for the road (unlike the Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM, which was only playing dress-up). Supposedly production ready, but GM chickened/cheapened out as usual.

Same thing apart from the badges (the Calibra was also sold as a Vauxhall in Britain). If you zoom in on the image, you can see the Opel logos ;o)

As far as I understand it, the two companies were both originally founded by Bruce McLaren. The American one now seems to be part of Linamar group.
