Yeah, I was aware of those. History is annoyingly complicated when you look closely. The Japanese were treated with a lot of racism at the time – and put into internment (aka. the c-word) camps.

Here in Germany, if you take your driving test with an automatic transmission, you’ll only be allowed to drive automatic cars (with manuals still being very common, especially on the used car market). Perhaps the legal situation in China is similar?

Haven’t had one in a while, but I remember it as OK. Although Spaten brand beer for North America may actually be brewed locally (i.e. not in Germany) – I remember I had Löwenbräu (same company) made by Labatt, which was … not brilliant.
