“In the original script, the character of Rick was called Derek. It was changed to Rick because it was one less syllable, and therefore easier to scream.”

Yeah, I think Joel's Christmas movie might be the least fucked-up. "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" is daffy, but you can kind of see it being a decent enough movie if it was remade by people who knew what they were doing, whereas the other two are just too conceptually weird to work.

What heart?

I'd like to change my ballot, replacing "Young Sheldon" with "Me Myself & I."

This last week in Sillstaw’s entertainment:

Seeing "Wind River" this Saturday. I'd thought about "The Glass Castle," but when I saw its Tomatometer at 50% on Monday, I decided not to take the risk on something I wasn't that enthused by. I'd also thought about "Brigsby Bear," but once again, two not-so-stellar reviews make me think it's probably not worth it.

I think it's in part just people hoping it gets canceled. But also, it's a single-camera comedy on CBS. It's at a disadvantage already.

Provisional ballot:
1. Young Sheldon (I was going to go for "Marlon" until I realized it was an August premiere—nutbunnies!)
2. Wisdom of the Crowd (seriously, this show has the stupidest concept ever)
3. 9JKL
4. The Orville
5. The Middle

Is there a list or a place where we can see the stuff coming up that's eligible? I'm kind of itching to make my ballot.

The only scenario I can see it getting canceled in is if USA and other syndication outlets say, "No more," just like I recall TNT did for the original.

As I posted in the other WOT: Saw this New York Times opinion piece saying that Donald Trump is getting a lot of Democrats ready to break into local politics, with the headline "Donald Trump Is the Godfather of a Democratic Renaissance."

Richard Dawkins on Bill Maher? I can't even come up with a new joke to discuss how much smug will be coming off the TV.

It was something that was on TV when we were young. Therefore, it is the GREATEST THING EVER.

Between that and his "joke" about how he shouldn't have to clean up after himself at movie theaters, it's clear that Jerry Seinfeld hasn't been in touch with average people in years.

Oh, "The Marriage Ref." What a full-fledged abortion that thing was.

I can recall using those kinds of words. All I can say is, I was younger and stupider.

Is this about North Korea or Kinja?

It does take a few reads, but yeah, the person on the hotline called him a f*****. The parentheses makes it a little clearer.
