Yes, thanks, I had *no idea* that there are also fringe expensive places to drink and dine in the United States, especially in the cores of expensive coastal American cities like New York and LA. That’s a real shocker there, thanks for that. I stand utterly corrected, thank you for your important input.

Just got back from Hong Kong last weekend. Tailoring is still pretty cheap there, and *quick*. I got a bunch of fully custom dress shirts from a tailor, in 24 hours, for about $35 each.

The Prius is capable of going as fast as any other normal car, and it’s not hard to drive it fast or accelerate easily. The Prius (at least mine, a 2011) has three driving modes, Power, Regular, and Eco. A lot of the people you see make the mistake of putting theirs into Eco mode 24/7, not understanding that it

Just FYI, it’s illegal to ride on the sidewalk. That’s for pedestrians.

Have you considered... riding on the giant sidewalks?

I once strapped an air horn to my bike, and when car drivers were being assholes - usually, by turning right on a red in front of me, or cutting me off, I just gave them a good blast and a middle finger.

I ride a bike in Phoenix, year round. Only about a mile to work, but it *does* beat the hell out of walking, even right now when it’s regularly 100 degrees at 8:00 AM and 115 when I head home.

get rid of your landline

Try Szechwan Palace, in the Chinese Cultural Center (the most “Chinatown” you can get in Phoenix) on 44th street just north of Van Buren, near the airport.

He’s always been an asshole, but if you listen to pre-2000 Trump, he was a much more articulate (if still uneducated) asshole. His speech and apparent mental abilities have significantly and objectively changed, whether you want to call it decline or not (I would, but I’m not a neuroscientist).

Clearly it’s not for you then. Although the longer distance travel, and personal errands requiring a car, are supposed to be covered by the $100 Zipcar credit that’s part of this package too.

That’s not the point. It’s not supposed to offset the cost of your car!

Yes, it’s only aimed at people in the city with short distance commutes, not suburban road warriors.

This is definitely not meant for people living in suburbia, driving 50 miles a day (!). This is meant for people who live in close-in urban areas, who own a car out of convenience but not quite total necessity.

Tell you what, why don’t you pay $300k for a medallion and tell me how you feel then?

So ask the government to refund the medallions, and then abolish the antiquated license system altogether. Win-win-win.

How about, instead of limiting the number of ride sharing licenses, they just ask for the government to abolish the license system imposed on them altogether? If they truly wanted “fair competition*”, that would be the solution.

Only in some cities. In others, like in Arizona, they have basically the same regulations. The solution here was not to add extra protectionist regulations on top of Uber and Lyft, but rather to *lower* regulations on taxi companies and bring them in line with ridesharing.

Seriously. Fuck cab drivers. I used to use cabs to get around Phoenix, either on occasion to get to work, when going out on the weekend, or to/from the airport. They were *universally* shitty, with shitty drivers, shitty smelly cars, shitty punctuality, shitty costs, shitty credit card machines, and shitty service.

They also can’t compete with a transportation service that shows their ride prices up front, as opposed to hiding it in a complex fare system, and bilking customers with broken, confusing, or simply turned-off meters.
