I’ve never felt the need to use soap to wash my cast iron. Once it has cooled, I rinse it out and scrub it with a scrub brush. It’s well seasoned so everything comes off it. Dry it with a paper towel (which removes any remaining grease residue), then rub in a dab of fresh oil with the same paper towel and it’s ready…

Charging AA’s over USB is used in some Logitech mice I have, for example, I think there just has to be some warnings here and there not to use alkalines and USB-charging at the same time. So you can use alkalines in a pinch but you have to take them out if you connect the USB-cable.
