In other news, the sky is blue.
True, but you have enough experience junkyarding parts for rare vehicles to know how heart-breaking it would be to have to try and find a rear bumper for a ‘69 Vista Cruiser. I wish part of the Haggerty policy on my 1968 Cutlass required anyone who damages it to fly to Arizona and find parts.
David Tracy, you are normally my hero, but I cannot, in good conscious, allow that beautiful Oldsmobile to get street parked in New York.
Since this is turning into a Corvette tax thread, I’ll share my story, too. Took mine in for VA state inspection at a shop I got good references for... Parked it out back and got a call that they had rejected it because the rear brakes were locked up and they couldn’t even move it into the garage. I went over to take…
I had a ‘91 L98 with 6-speed and LOVED it. The most difficult part of owning it was the Corvette tax. For a car that shared so many parts with a Camaro, things got expensive and mechanic shops got dumb. I would go for this even more as the ‘91 still has the first gen C4 boxier body, which looks awesome. Also, the L98…
I’m really love the headlights on my Cutlass. The didn’t use this style very long and the ‘68 is really unique because of it.
All of my cars are too old for that light, and each has a solution to your problem:
The Campbells Soup Company will never give up on V8.
1993 Miata - black and tan with the stereo system that shook the seats. Had no idea how rare the car was when I had it and I got rid of it because I was at a point in my life where I felt like if I didn’t buy a Corvette NOW, I would never have one.
Agree! If people can’t easily access their turn signals, they will just stop using them, making this a feature more suited for a BMW.
I love how nicely this plugs into the generic NP/ND comments we get on Jalopnik:
At least this article gives us the literal ability to look at this trunk and say “There’s a lot to unpack here” - even if there never will be.
Great campaign for them.
The back windows in my 1968 Cutlass pivot as they roll down. It’s really cool to look at, except one of them is hopelessly off track so I have to keep it up.
As I was typing this a little voice in my head was going “Hey Sid, you have a 1960's GM big block V8 and it starts every time you turn the key and has for the last 25 years. And that VW engine is probably reliable, too. I’ll bet a bunch of people will start up with you in the comments...”
I am truly impressed at this ambitious project to take a truck with old, often unreliable, running gear and replace it with new, often unreliable, running gear.
If you want to contact them about it you can hit their Geocities web site or just email them at DalienRailroad@netzero.com.
I love that I’m reading an article based on a leaked memo about how Ford wants to try and stop leaks. They should probably send another memo to their memo team about the memo leak. Hopefully nobody will leak the leaked memo memo.
