At a bare minimum they could have done what this guy did.  Spend several million, though likely way less than 50million, and build this thing.  Similar shape, nothing crazy, solid axles.  Don’t get me wrong, I anticipate Land Rover has some stricter testing, but still.  This would have been doable.

Rollover stresses are a function of mass, velocity, and surface topology. Land Rover may have no control over the shape of the hillside that you make your mistake on, but they engineered the Defender so that it wouldn’t be going fast at the time, and half the parts would drop off or flail around if you turned it…

I’m waiting for the day one of these comes out as a PHEV (or dare I dream of a diesel PHEV). Enough battery to quietly power anything I could need while parked but also all the bonuses of an engine.
