On a semi-related note, I was greeted by this ad in youtube yesterday...

I’m not saying I know why it’s like that in this video. Just that it’s something occasionally intentionally done by the DOT. Not necessarily caused by wear and tear on the road.

There are some places where it’s done to increase grip, like for steep hills. I encountered it once near SeaTac International a few years back in that kind of scenario.

I will agree that riding on those grooves is awful. That being said, if I hit that on a highway I’d be slowing down and looking to exit ASAP. That shit is annoying enough on local roads.

The key is to buy an old bike that can’t go that fast anyway :D
