As a really tiny person who has to shop in the kids department, I found this blog super helpful for finding things that fit and look properly formal.
I guess the Feminist movement did affect some things then! Shop and Home Ec were coed and required for everyone in middle school.
If I could, I would probably have skipped it too! :)
I remember bleaching a load of towels by accident because I put the bleach in the wrong machine. :)
I was in "upstate" (read: Westchester) New York as well. It's amazing how well the information from that class has served me over the years. I'm happy it used to be required for everyone.

Back in ye olden days (the 90's) there was this awesome class called Home Economics. It taught you almost everything you needed to be a functioning adult!
I used to commute to and from the suburbs via Yawkey, now I work in Cambridge and avoid that whole mess. Baseball season was a nightmare. Just absolutely crazy. Thank goodness for away games?

I recently moved from New York to Boston (Allston then Brighton now Brookline). People are so much less neurotic and stressed out here.
