I have a theory about people who become wildly successful/famous on the level that Steve has achieved: their relationship with their past, pre-fame and success, is an either or proposition. Either they embrace it. Or they shed it like a snake sheds its skin, leaving it in the middle of the road, to dry up and blow

Let's just hope he never makes an ineloquent off the cuff remark in the context of his support for equality or we'll have no choice but to discount everything good he's ever said or done.

Garcia Marquez is one of my favorite authors, but he was in there because... Movies based on his books? Weird

Yes. Best Actor and Best Actress go to whoever is playing Best Gimp. If there is no gimp, then the Oscar goes to someone imitating a famous person (performer) and actually singing their songs (Sissy Spacek, Jamie Foxx). However, if you're an AA woman doing the imitation singing, you will lose out to a beautiful

This reminds me of the time I saw Lord of the Rings and then I started summoning giant walls of water to expel ring wraiths from Rivendell.

Barbara Bush: Oh its a shame poor Marvin died so very young.

He can't be that smart. He fucked up the photography.

Zappa > Your stupid fucking wedding.

There's ANOTHER bush brother? Is he smart? Is that why we've never heard of him?

Two, if you count Emmanuel Lubezki, who is also Mexican and won his second Oscar. Besides, two Mexican directors have won Oscars two years in a row. I know, baby steps, but believe me, for the Latino community that is HUGE.

A hispanic/latino guy won best director/best picture, but I guess that doesn't matter.

No.

hey bud, the only award that matters is the one that you hand out in your head. that's why parker posey is an 8-time Cleisthe winner and James Cameron had a moving in memoriam montage in 1992 in my award ceremony

Yes, the rules actually are:

At least he didn't go full retard.

Agreed, but it's kind of fitting that Riggan would still lose, but be ok with it.

I love Hawking, but I've heard such shit about that story of everything movie, and it sounds like really well founded criticism, too. I hate when people take a person's story and morph it into a cookie cutter series of oversimplified tropes for the accolades those tropes will receive rather than telling the story

Yes. Plus he was playing a real person and the Oscars love that shit. Keaton deserved it more.

Eddie Redmayne??? Eddie Redmayne???!!!!! That one, to me, was the biggest eyeroll of the night.

This was such an amazing speech, this along with Arquette and the writer speech from Imitation Game was super moving. I was so annoyed that hardly ANYONE clapped for Common/ Legend as much as they did for Arquette. Common's speech was pure poetry!
