So Jesse and Wally got hit by the dark matter, but we didn't see any lightning on them. So do they have to have something else hit them to get their speed powers? I'm assuming Wally will have something to do with an engine, no clue about Jesse though.

Yeah, I agree. This time jump could have been the perfect opportunity to do something with him, maybe him and Bonnie could have teamed up to hunt vampires or something. Literally anything other than what hes been doing for the past few years.
