Cryptonomicon is great.  I read it probably 5 or 6 years ago, and it was about 8 years old at that point, but still didn't feel too dated.  Seems like the "present day" portions would still hold up fairly well.

Finished The Song of Susannah (The Dark Tower VI).  The worst book by far, and probably exacerbated by the fact that I just wanted to rush through it and couldn't because I was listening to it on CD.  Just started book 7 and it's much better thus far.

They were certainly silly, but Enema of the State still holds up pretty well musically, in my opinion.  I'm sure a lot of it is the nostalgia talking, but it also helps when you have a drummer like that.

I really don't get that "Bagboy" song.  At all.

That's pretty awesome.  She still has that look on her face after you've passed her too, like, what the hell was that.

Supposedly the second "why male models" line in Zoolander was Ben Stiller accidentally saying it again and David Duchovny just went with it.

I'm predicting the producers will question their decision to only promote the show through AV Club Disqus notifications, though.

I don't think Guiding Light is considered scripted.

Wedding after wedding after wedding…

Your preference for the most compelling and interesting fictional character on a pulpy crime drama is obviously indicative of deep misogynistic impulses.

I think you mean keming.

Yeah, his role there was really impressive.  That definitely made me respect him a lot more as an actor, since I'd only seen him as Gale and Doug before that.

I liked it a lot more than I expected to as well.  The zombie CGI wasn't the greatest, but it almost wasn't even a zombie movie - it felt like it was more about chaos and hysteria more than anything.

The Sons of Anarchy one is my favorite for sure.

The difference between the M-60 and some of the bullshit on lost is that it was very obvious that we would absolutely, 100% be finding out how Walt gets to that point and what happens next.

That might be true, but figuring out how the plot is going to get to Walt being on the run and acquiring a machine gun is a far cry from just throwing random shit into your show to create mystery or drama.

The Lost finale, in retrospect, wasn't really the problem.

So not only did Notch steal hundreds of hours of my life with Minecraft, he also has been making me go deaf all these years?

Rainbow Six was one of the longer books I read when I was a pre-teen/teenager.  I loved it at the time, though I suspect the absurdity of its politics would stick out to me a lot more if I read it now.

I'm excited for the second and third movies, but I was so bored during the first one.
