Man youre a bit all over on this... MPGe, or overall energy efficiency, and CO2/km aren’t metrics that are meant to be used in isolation. The entire purpose of this discussion/article though is to break down relativistic electric vehicle efficiency figures, which then would be the basis for evaluating their national &…
What? No that’s not even remotely accurate, nor what I was getting at... MPGe is simply a raw efficiency metric (I prefer kWh/100 km personally). It isn’t (and was never intended to be) directly informative of carbon emissions (aka g CO2 per mi.).
Lousy efficiency hardly describes it appropriately. It’s effectively a 1979 Carburettor technology compared to 2020 DI type difference right now
Correct amount of range, correct amount of power, wrong price...

Yea, it’s an 8 year old vehicle that’s had no major refresh in its lifetime and, to the average consumer, felt outdated from day 1... This is the least surprising news of the week.
At what point is a state finally going to reevaluate the metrics used for 2-wheel vehicle classifications and just start from scratch? The current metrics just read as archaic an inhibiting to any sort of low-carbon transit options.
You seem to make a pretty big jump to assuming Porsche just rolled over and took the derate value (Or did you sneak in a note of feedback from them that said such?).
You seem to be completely misinterpreting what he’s saying... Effectively all he said is; “there are a bunch of feature that we’ve been designing for that our customers don’t need nor want, so we’re going back and removing these in order to improve our bottom line & enable new design strategies.” AKA, “if we get this…
I’m currently waiting/actively trying to help coordinate for exactly this car. Lightweight, RWD, all electric, efficient, low-cost... Heaven
If you want decent C-rates & availability then go snag some of Ford’s hybrid battery modules (i.e. from the Focus Energi & C-Max). Rough calculations off the DOE figures hints at ~ a safe 17C pulse discharge rating.
Or just make an actual Mustang EV to call the Mach-e?... And call this thing literally anything else? Hell it would’ve been an amazing opportunity to bring back the Sierra nameplate. Ford Sierra Mach-e GT?
So rather than build brand equity in an electric vehicle by giving it a unique but bold making standard which they can then play on for future EVs they choose to destroy the Mustang brand equity they’ve been building for 60 years only to have to do it anyways once their second EV comes out... Just... Why Ford...…
Or the EPA does to certify vehicle emissions, like the VW TDIs
You’d have congress vet software for autonomous cars? Congress wouldn’t have the slightest clue what they’re looking at... Also sharing of software is 1000% not necessary, nor would any company agree to it.
