Actually, Ford’s numbers with Sync / MyFordTouch have clearly come up dramatically recently, as evidenced by their strong rebound in the JD Powers Quality Survey, where those systems were singled out as single-handedly bringing their numbers down over the past few years.

But besides that, Ford already handed the OS

Your above response contains no “ample evidence” that public sector workers will underperform private sector workers the more unionized they are. None. If you want to show that they support your claim, SHOW IT. You name theories without any evidence that said theories support your claim, but rather just proscribe your

Yeah... its always the unions.

Seriously?

You want to tell us what you think about Agenda 21?

Ample evidence? Ok. go ahead - find us some. From an independent trustworthy source.

How did I know some lunatic would manage an unfounded anti-union rant out of this, despite having absolutely ZERO evidence to back up their claim?

1st:

Have you read many complaints that NHTSA receives? I’d estimate 90% of them (or more) are worthless and should be ignored.

The question should be - is their filtering mechanism good enough to be ignoring the right ones but still datamine old ignored complaints to try to detect any patterns?

And what do you think the leading causes of complaints prior to that were? Wind noise had always been the #1 complaint. That’s a minor thing.

As for correlations, its pretty simple. You have the IQS and VDS from JD Power you can run numbers on. You can also use the IQS vs. Consumer Reports’ data on reliability

JDP’s initial quality study was always about the more minor things. And it has always correlated very well to long term reliability...

Yes. Is the correlation perfect? No - but it is a danged high correlation, even more so when you separate out luxury from non-luxury manufacturers. The company that neglects things like squeaks and rattles is, pure and simple, more likely to neglect things like proper transmission cooling line sizing.

I’m just surprised they didn’t use a more up to date copyright. They’re taking less legal claim to the images using 2013, and using 2015 wouldn’t be any real extra cost.

Do they? There are plenty of independent third party data sources (Truedelta, warrantydirect, msnautos) that provide info that is highly accurate and doesn’t have the same survey methodology problems as consumer reports and/or don’t obscure the reliability rating with a non-linear colored dot scheme.

What makes it relevant?

Because the correlation between initial quality and long term reliability is actually pretty darned high. Not many automakers build vehicles where they get every detail right out of the showroom but that don’t last. The two generally go hand-in-hand.

1st: Jaguar had been at the top of this for many years (suffering a dip after Tata bought them), and every single year we hear the same comments about how impressive it is that they’ve fixed things finally.

Interesting side bit - looking at my house, their image is no more than 6 weeks old (how often do they update?!?). But the copyright on the image is still listed as 2013.

I think you’re thinking of DDT. Deet is commonly used in all sorts of bugsprays...

Short period of time - in that you can cancel at any point and ask for your money back. You can reserve one for a week, then ask for your money back, if that floats your boat.

To the people buying these, $5k is petty cash. They can count the reservation as being in their liquid cash reserves - a pile that they expect

OTOH, you don’t pay the full price as a reservation fee, but rather $5000, and the fees are fully refundable. So saying it is presold is a stretch, as the reservations can be cancelled at any time for any reason without penalty. For people that can afford a Tesla, parting with $5k for a short period of time is no big

I’ll take 2nd quarter of 2019 and $50k starting price.

Uh, no...
