The problem with alternatives to the Sienna is that they generally stink. The Odyssey and Carnival get abysmal gas mileage by comparison, and the Pacifica is ludicrously expensive by comparison, as you have to go PHEV not just HEV. And you’ll be stuck with Chrysler quality instead of Toyota quality.

I’m not a huge

As much as I like nuclear, rapid breakthroughs on geothermal are making it look like that would be a better and significantly cheaper solution.

Old coal plants are nowhere near 60%. Most barely crack 40%. NG is generally up to 65% max, not 80%.

That wage growth is still not equally distributed, to be fair.

The lowest wage occupations have seen the largest % increase in pay - its in the middle and upper middle class where wages haven’t kept pace with inflation the past few years.

BINGO.

I have so many coworkers who buy high end cars or trucks using a justification like “I like to do woodworking, so I need something to haul wood”. Then they proceed to use it for that purpose once per year. Maybe twice.

Then they ask why I’m driving an (almost) 18 year old Ford Fusion when they know I have the

Who says they have to? No decent airline does this.

And who wants a full meal in the middle of the night? NO ONE is expecting dinner to be served on a flight that leaves late at night.  Waking passengers for “service” like that is beyond stupid.

I have sympathy for FAs for the amount of hate directed their way, no doubt.

However, I’ve had enough experiences with obnoxious and clueless flight attendants that I still don’t care for them. Bad apples spoiling the whole bunch kinda thing.

For example, last year I had a flight on a trip - short hop with a stop and

I’m all for union rights, but they’re nuts.

A four day work week is perfectly doable, but not one where they get paid for 40 hours of work when they only work 32, which their president is suggesting. I’ve worked many factories on 12 hour shifts, and they get lots of days off while averaging 40 hrs per week just by

Flying? Love it. Airlines? Hate them... except their pilots. Those folks are worth their weight in gold when nonsense like this comes up.

Naturally this story raises my anxiety a bit for travel when I realize that the ATC at some places I go can’t hold a candle to the folks we have here, which would raise the odds of

Holy crap, that one was close...

To be fair, online is coming back, but it was a disaster when they first rolled it out.  Maybe it will work properly when they relaunch, but online renewals were on average the slowest of them all to process.

Except for the fact that applying for a renewal means you don’t have use of your passport, so if you need to travel in the (realistically) next 5-6 months, turning in your passport for a renewal now isn’t an option.

A lot of these are weather-related ones that are certainly annoying as heck, but infuriating is a stretch.

Here’s one for you:

Flying Baltimore/Washington (BWI) to Champaign, IL (CMI) over 30 years ago on American. American’s only service into CMI is from O’Hare (ORD). So BWI-ORD flight goes off without a hitch. Then

Spaniards : “Give Gibraltar back!! It’s ours!”

Also Spaniards : “F*ck no, you can’t have Melilla and Ceuta back, they’re rightfully ours!”

They won’t get near that claimed range, but they’ll get far more range than most of them will need.  In surveys of contractors, it turns out the average drives about 75 miles in a day.  Yes, there are some that drive more.  But the thing people often forget is that they tend to drive to/from one site in a day hauling

Great! I don’t want to spam Jalopnik with any ads, but I do know some people who have had good luck with third party replacements and long warranties.

Personally, I’d prefer to do the work myself, especially when it is this simple, but I would want to save money and/or get a better warranty.  ChrisFix’s video is VERY

3rd gen had a fair bit of an oil burn problem. You could have one that was bulletproof or you could have one that would die a premature death. I know a lot more people that had this problem with that gen than had any problems with the hybrid system.

My inlaws had a 1st gen.  It was the most trouble-prone car anyone in

There’s a firm out there that will give you a new battery for $2494 + tax, installed, with a 3 year warranty. $250 more and you get a lifetime warranty. $2700-3400 as in this video is too much for such a short warranty and making you do the work yourself.

No, I wouldn’t go that route. There are companies that will come to my house and replace the battery for me and give me a lifetime parts+labor warranty for less than the cost of the replacement cells in this video.

The car is definitely worth repairing. Just not in the way shown when a cheaper, better option is

Same applies to crossovers - not as widely available as trucks, but available in huge numbers compared to sedans and hatchbacks, which you said people are taking because they’re available....
