I can’t help but roll my eyes at the OP prefacing the comment with mentioning being Latino, like that would somehow make it a-okay to place some blame on these kids.

As an American of Mexican heritage who’s lived in LA, I didn’t see the kids as being disrespectful. They were careful, scared and doing exactly what they should’ve done-getting involved with recording this incident and following their friend to make sure they witnessed him walk away with his life.

Absolutely. He’s a grown up. He’s a trained professional. This did not need to escalate. In fact, the moment the kid said “hey don’t talk to that girl like that!” all he had to fucking do is roll his eyes and go back in his house. His wannabe alpha macho ego is what made him lunge at the kid.

These are kids, for crying out loud. KIDS. He, as a fucking police officer who has had significant training for these types of situations, should know how to handle it without having to pull out his gun and shoot it. It was not the child’s responsibility to de-escalate shit.

If I ever saw a random man holding a child like that I would assume that he would be going to prison for assaulting a minor.
