For someone who already has professional experience as a journalist, what’s a smart way to get a job covering video games? I work as a full-time professional writer, but I’ve also been a radio news anchor and am entering grad school soon to focus on journalism. I know this question gets asked a lot, but I’m

Metroidvania has got to be one of the most obnoxious gaming terms, up there with roguelike. Not because they’re not useful or somewhat appropriate—they can be and sometimes are—but they only serve to wink at another person that you’re an enthusiast. They’re not really all that descriptive unless you know what Metroid,

You’re absolutely right. Those sort of issues were what I was referring to with “a variety of reasons.” I’m just arguing that with the nature of the content, they should have known better than to leave it on-disc in any state. I doubt the cost of fixing the problem during production would have been worse than after

It wasn’t just a “sex scene,” Hot Coffee was an interactive sex mini-game where you could select positions, etc. Rockstar was in no way innocent. Yes, devs leave all sorts of cut content on-disc for a variety of reasons. However, something that outrageous should not have made it to retail in a playable state,

I completely agree. I sunk hours and hours into that one. It blended the fast-paced hop-and-bop gameplay of the 2D games with the acrobatics of the 3D ones, and dressed it up with that Galaxy charm. It was so unlike anything else in the Mario series—and hard as nails to 100%, too. I hope we get another one someday!

What makes you say that? Activision hasn’t even hinted at bringing it to other platforms.

Naughty dog has nothing to do with this, unfortunately.

I haven’t read anything about timed exclusivity. The three original Naughty Dog-developed Crash games were on the PS1, and I believe were originally published by Sony. I wouldn’t be surprised if they still retain the publishing rights to those three.

The film business actually has a pretty notorious history of that very practice, now that you mention it. Back in the Golden Age, production companies would get actors to sign exclusive contracts to appear in X-number of Paramount films, or 20th-Century Fox or MGM. And then those companies would buy up their own

The KKK was founded as a Christian organization.

For all it’s faults, the Wii U had a great library of games. The 3DS has put out classic after classic, too. I think the combined affection is what’s building the Switch hype. Plus, it looks super cool, and has a key feature no other home console has.

They still make spectacular Pac-Man games. Championship Edition II was one of my favorite titles of last year.

I’m a Sony fan for all my non-Nintendo mainstream titles, and that’s the only thing they did with the PS4 that I dislike. I loved that my Vita TV can play all those PS1 games I bought, and so many titles are cross-buy compatible even with the PS4. But you’re right, the wall they’ve built between the PS4 and all of

I dunno why everyone cites PSN for digital backwards compatibility. PS2 and PS1 games on PS4 have no discount whatsoever. If you want a classic game you already own on PS3, sorry. $12 please!

Oh, hell yes!! So few people actually bring artists and art historians on to chat about these things. Loved this article.

Man...rough year.

Of course! Can’t disrespect the opinion of another Kirby fan! :)

I kmow this. It’s the pirates that were stupid enough to think that was protected.

Absolutely. Other digital shops do it all the time.

So these guys are extra fucked. It’s pretty awesome.
