Agreed. I used to do an almost daily 5 mile ride on my bicycle, and it really helped me learn how to deal with traffic. Especially Beirut traffic. I can now confidently say I can drive my motorbike in Vietnamese traffic. :D
I’m not saying they are tougher. I’m saying that by the time it takes Americans to get used to a sub-standard of living, they will have taken a larger hit to morale than the other force USED to that standard of living. Don’t put words in my mouth.
I disagree, for 2 main reasons (forgetting everything else for now):
It was mostly a European car thing. Our old workhorse, a Renault 12 Toros, had a stalk mounted horn. Even when they kept making them till 2010 or so.
Jaguar V8, that’s why. Especially when they could have been karmically forgiven for essentially stick a Cobra motor in a FWD Lincoln a couple of years before that.
This. Here in Beirut many party members fire their weapons up into the air during after their reps’ speeches on TV. They don’t seem to understand that bullets go back down and don’t fly out into orbit.
One of my cars, an old 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.2, does 7 mpg in traffic. I might as well attach a gas station to the car and drive it around.
Nice general statement. I live in Lebanon, which is in the middle east. It’s probably greener than where you live now, we all speak 3 languages (Arabic, French and English), and our literacy rate is higher than the US.
Religious ideals don’t make it into law in Israel? Really? The country was FOUNDED on a fucking religious ideal, they’re killing Palestinians every day based on those religious ideals, and their entire mission is to conquer a certain amount of land because they believe they are religiously entitled to it.
Touche!
You wouldn’t last an hour driving in Beirut. It’s called paying attention.
Something is off. I can get a Bosch replacement water pump unit iirc for less than $200. Friend of mine bought a Sachs fan clutch last year for his E34 M5 for $88. 2 months later, he removed it and did an electric fan conversion (whole thing cost less than $150).
I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the awesome sound my BMW V12 makes.
Can you get a 350Z in the US for that money? If yes, that’s probably my first choice for a modern “fast” car.
He’s one of the best drivers from my home country. He also just won the Antibes Rally in France.
1 Lebanese creator. Rest of the investors are from the UAE iirc.
Hey Doug,
Beat me to it... By a margin. :P I just posted this!
