I liked most of the characters in XII, but most of them were really under-utilized. Balthier is maybe the only exception. I mean sure, (Captain) Basch (fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca!) and Ashe were central to the main plot but you never really got to feel like you knew them as characters.

It has some problems but they’re not the same ones as X and XIII. It’s a lot more open than either game if that’s what bothered you.
