Dan Denkinger: SAFE!

The breakaway bases I know of have a ground-level base that remains clearly visible even if the top portion breaks away and flies into the outfield grass. It’s not terribly difficult to see if a player remains in contact with it, though I get that height differential could be a small issue.

Scott Boras helps players get paid their true worth. He reaps the financial benefits of that, sure, but he has been a net good for the players and the sport against the penurious instincts of owners (and some fans).

He moves backwards like a 3-legged dog. No disrespect to the good doggos out there missing and appendage who would definitely do a better job of protecting their mediocre signal-callers.

The terrible slide doesn’t help but damn, it’s arguably a better throw than Ichiro’s iconic gunning down of Terrence Long:

Get back to work, Nibbles!

Still bitter about that goal-preventing handball in the QFs vs. the USA. I’m anti-VAR but if I could retroactively impose it on that match I would. US was the better team, at least on that day. (Also that Germany team had Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose, Torsten Frings and Oliver Khan among others, which is a pretty

Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota went 1-2! And of course there’s always Ryan Leaf. Trubisky could very well end up with that group, too.

and Daniel Jones, Gardner Minshew and Jacoby Brissett. And that doesn’t even get into the teams that are awful even with their 1st choice QB like Miami, Washington, Denver, Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, etc.

Might be all of the above. They haven’t had an influx of top-grade talent to replace their aging stars. Players like Toni Kroos and Marco Reus aren’t enough to beat the other best European teams. That said, the Netherlands match was their first loss in qualifying and they’ve held every team but the Dutch scoreless so
