Yeah, I have nothing against their collection nor do I think they are against emulation or preservation. I was just remarking how much longer can the hardware last.

I guess the last resort hardware is if Analogue is able to make FPGA unit to run DS and Wii games.

But, can you run them still in 10 years?  Will your hardware hold out?

Yeah, I agree.

Then again, this is also the same company once run by Hiroshi Yamuchi who said that Nintendo would close up shop before releasing its IP on other consoles. There is some deep corporate DNA that makes them operate the same way, no matter who is in charge.

Yes, Nintendo has the resources to do this, but they don’t.

But we now know that Nintendo of Japan has some inscrutable thinking going on. Since this is a standard Japanese corporate hierarchy, even Nintendo of America and Nintendo Europe have to follow HQ’s orders, even if the subsidiaries know their local market

Given the bare-minimum effort of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Nintendo knows some of their old games are still popular, but they are taking a Disney Vault approach in re-releasing them.

On top of that, Nintendo of Japan seems more focused on making new games (note: not necessarily new IPs, just new games) than

The Pokemon Company has no public policy about not reprinting cards. Almost any card is fair game for a reprint. Usually, promotional cards like the Japanese Pikachu Illustrator card (Pikachu holding an paint brush) are unique and won’t be reprinted. But normal cards sold in boosters can and have been reprinted.

Seiba: “Screw the rules! I have money!”

You’re right that Nier isn’t exactly a hero, since the whole story is depressing. However, Nier Replicant was an older protagonist in a sea of young protagonists when that game came out. The great majority of non-Western games have young protagonists.

That’s why Nier Gesalt was cool to me, even though the original vision by Yoko Taro was Neir Replicant.

Kids can’t have all the fun and save the day.  Give the old folks some heroic accomplishments.

Raven from Tales of Vesperia was a refreshing change for a main character.

And I hope your luck continues. I’ve had a few instances of getting sick, and some of my friends have gotten sick. Fortunately, prior to the pandemic, most of these were usually mild colds or runny noses. Now, I’m older and with family, so I’m a bit more cautious, even with the vaccination.  I’m not staying home like

Holding the event outdoors is a sensible precaution to mitigate potential viral spread. “Con plague” is a known phenomenon at most indoor conventions due to poor ventilation.

PAX is a convention that draws people from all over the U.S.

The mechanics alone wouldn’t be enough for a violation.  But combined with the art style and the mechanics, and other things, this isn’t just a knock-off, this looks and plays like Hades.

I’ll be amazed if this game makes it to release. There is way too much resemblance to Hades from art style to gameplay mechanics. And if it is just a reskin, that definitely would be copyright infringement.

That Thor looks like a Marvel-style Thor, so Marvel might take action too.

When ME1 was made, Bioware was in Canada. They chose Faunts for several reasons, but I recall that Faunts is a Canadian band and that this particular song meshed well with ME1's 80's sci-fi theme. (I still miss that, since ME2 and ME3 moved away from that theme, even though the sequels are good games in their own right

Exclamation, Kotaku now has Elcor owners. Disappointing sigh, or the closest we will get to having Elcor owners.

If some bosses are optional and it’s an open world, that will open up speedrun variety. Defeat the final boss in underpants and sticks only (with lots of perfect parries)?

Pokken Tournament exists, and that was single 1 vs. 1 violence and fast action.  Pokemon Unite seems like the next evolution in that gameplay mechanic.

If the combat plays more freely like Nier Automata or Ys VIII, I’m all for it. I got really miffed after so many Tales “Line” systems where I have to press a button to free roam. I tried to pick up Tales of Vesperia again on the Switch, and I couldn’t stand the battle system any more.

Either that, or it’s his author persona, like WWE wrestlers.
