First a minor tweak: the generally preferred term is sex worker. Hooker tends to be derogatory.

I think this a valuable piece: http://www.nextavenue.org/nobody-wants-parents-stuff/
Exactly. Not that I don’t like hearing about gay men. I think Rich is a great writer. I really enjoyed his piece on Prep (written last year I think?)....
I think you’ve misunderstood what Bloodfiend was saying. OP wasn’t saying “women should write more about gay men”. OP was saying “on a website that’s geared to women maybe we should have less talk about cis gay men and their sexual proclivities, and more talk about queer spaces that are inclusive of those that…
Nah, don’t go down the racism route. There are no other football players (we call it football, deal with it) in the world who wear orange tinted glasses like Davids did: footballers don’t wear glasses when they play, but he was allowed to because he has glaucoma.
Given a good portion of them are saying racist things, including actual WWII era Nazi slogans, I’d say the ones who are “protectin muh herituge” might be in the wrong crowd.
The alt-right protestors were protesting the removal of a statue of a segregationist and, many would say, traitor. Does that automatically make all of them racists? Maybe not all of them, but it’s a rather questionable cause they’re supporting.
An a side note, this.
There’s a real problem with that thought process. For some reason straight public sex on beaches, in hospitals, on airplanes, or in cars is seen as romantic, but gay versions of these events in parks or at truck stops are seen as lascivious and dark. For some reason, the fantasy of the stewardess, nurse, or…
Riiiiiiiiight:
how is scanning my fingerprint gonna be faster than scanning a boarding pass? and how many terrorist incidents were because of fake boarding passes? not many
As someone who was skeptical and a bit paranoid about the sort of panopticon state like you see in the UK, it’s a little odd to feel so good about the mounting sousveillance movement. But I can’t argue with the results. More video is the way to combat the inflitration of police by white nationalists. Equally…
Anti black Latinos always confound me. Like you realize they half your team right? Like Afro Latinos are a significant portion of the Global population. But, ok girl. This is why I also enjoy a good laugh when white Latinos tell people they don’t have race/color issues.
To me, Uber is being reactive with it’s decisions right now (creating a legal fund that may or may not be needed sounds like saving face)... Lyft is being proactive (donating the ACLU without the motivation of customer losses). I give greater weight to an altruistic action that isn’t in response to a mistake…
I think this is where you have a privilege that I don’t. As a white person, please do, please talk to other white people about race whether they “get it” or not. As a black woman, most of the time when I talk to people who don’t “get it” (and I do), I just get shit on most of the time. Some of the comments that I’ve…
Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Just wanted to offer a little wisdom that a friend of color offered me, re: your wanting to talk about race and feeling that your experiences are unappreciated/being told that your views are illegitimate and/or biased.
What happens when you start a new job and you don’t know what to do? You figure it out. You do research. You ask people.
Same thing with fighting racism. You do some work yourself. Read articles. Speak out - use your voice to advocate for change. There are organizations out there for anti-racist white people - join…
Except Tilda does a weird, insensible thing when she says, “I’m a Scottish woman of 55 who lives in the Highlands. There’s precious little projected on contemporary cinema screens that means a great deal to my life, if truth be told.”
OK.. this is NOT Comcast.. it’s a subcontractor with the comcast logo on the side - jeez.
I’ve done work on dehydration for the Army. Thirst is NOT a reliable indicator unless under circumstances that you are very acclimated to. Used to living in the Northeast and not doing much physical labor? You’ll find you can’t rely on your thirst to tell you when to drink if you suddenly are doing a lot of work in…
