Thanks for all the years of blessedly trenchant insight into this remarkable television experience, Myles.

Salutations~!

Really sensational review, Myles. I concur to a great degree. I was totally on board with the ideas possible here, but the execution of it just didn’t sink in at all. Loved the first 45 minutes (only the beginning of “The Winds of Winter” tops it for me), but everything after that key choice was “Thanks! I hate it©!”

I’d say around the coda to the first major story arc for Imperial Agent.

Yep yep, I agreed with you. It’s not breaking the mold on what games can be. Yet I really dig that Totally Accurate Battle Simulator feels so happy and content at being what it is: a fun smorgasbord of different unit attacks/styles/terrains with a ton of charm and spunk fueling it. I enjoy that it embodies the spirit

Salutations~!

Have a blast with the Imperial Agent storyline! It gets pretty narratively intense once the plot starts to get into motion.

A similar situation happened to me when I learned that Ellen Beeman/Guon, co-writer of Wing Commander: Freedom Flight with Mercedes Lackey, was also a primary script writer on the early Wing Commander entries and friends with the Coles of Quest for Glory fame.

I remember that game! Laser Lords distinctly reminded me of that too. Lots of wandering around and item fetch quests, but similarly so, a real charm about all the proceedings that elevates it.

Yeah, here’s hoping if Scramble/Strikers is successful, it encourages Atlus to finally release some port and remasters for their catalog to other consoles.

Wow, that’s cool. /cheer some Shivers love. Underrated horror gem of its time. Best of fortune on your speed run!

Well said, and I agree completely. Developers today have to endeavor so hard to make games as accessible as possible to everyone out there (understandably so to ensure survival for their investment), but that approach has also lessened the magic and wonder that used to be imbued in many titles from the previous eras.

Aww, that’s a shame. I liked Willie. Though I mainly spammed the mouse button to win, so I concur the fencing mini-game wasn’t the best thing ever. It was refreshing to experience a potential antagonist with doubts about everything going on in his world. An unexpected dimension shown, albeit minimal in how the plot

I remember all the riddles from King’s Quest VI instinctively too. It’s funny what the brain chooses to retain over the years. And it really is surprising just how many old games hold up from a few decades back. I mean, gameplay wise they’re all rough-around-the-edges, but there’s this personality that pervades the

Have a blast when you do! Don’t want to spoil anything, but best piece of advice: use diplomacy wherever possible to see what you can accomplish. Compared to a lot of other classes in TOR, it’s surprising how much variance the Imperial Agent quests allow for success. Nothing earth shattering of course, but it adds to

Whoaaaa, so much to do this week! Haven’t had much time for anything game related, aside from the usual FFRK/Valkyrie Anatomia shenanigans. Same old story, didn’t get the relic drops I NEEDED, but acquired enough to apply ingenuity with a dab of luck to earn an incremental victory here and there. Just the way it goes.

Congrats on completing the Trooper storyline! Agreed that, as with a lot of the Class Stories in TOR, it starts off supremely strong, but gets diminishing returns to your investment over time due to the MMORPG grinding elements watering down the drinks of the core experience, as it were. My favorite class story is

/cheer /cheer! Hopefully the P5 S Atlus JP stream next week will be an announcement for a port to Switch (though it could just as likely be for a musical stage version as was done for P3 and P4). I’d love so much to see some remasters for the earlier games in the series.
