Is there anything BK doesn’t screw up?  They were halfway decent 20+ years ago but now?  On a road trip, I’d stop at a McDonald’s, Wendy’s, etc. but doubt I would even consider eating at a BK

I’m sure it tastes good (or at least nostalgic) but I gotta hand it to Fall River. That chop suey sandwich is one of the most unappetizing food items I have seen in quite some time. Is it always so... gray?

The jamon-buerre has become my (and my 9 yr old daughter’s) go-to airplane meal for a long flight. Its easily prepared the night before and barely suffers from an overnight hold in the fridge and most importantly, freaking delicious

but a home is going to end up with a whole lot of mostly full bottles of various specialty boozes.

Agree - I recently finished my pack of 2x spicy ramen. Definitely pretty damn spicy but not in a “I dare you” or I can’t finish it kind of way. Never had any intestinal distress afterwards. More recently, I could’ve sworn I saw another level of spicy Samyang ramen last time I was in H-Mart but maybe i’m mistaken.

I recently taught that concept to my 9 yr old daughter. Handed her a pint of Halo Top and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and explained that the better/richer ice cream was heavier cause less air was mixed in. It was very noticeable when comparing those two ice creams side by side

Seitan - at least in the context i had it at Xi’an Famous Foods as part of Liang Pi cold skin noodles is good. Has an interesting chewy/spongy texture and pretty much just soaks up the sauce. Based on that texture, I’m not sure it would work well as meat substitute but can’t say I have any experience

Bought milk powder specifically to make the cornflake marshmallow cookies and haven’t used it since. Don’t do a lot of baking so don’t quite appreciate the science but should experiment with it more.

And I’m of the mind that sun dried tomatoes are an abomination.  Horrible texture, way too sweet. Almost always an unwelcome addition to any dish

Came here to say that.

I agree that everything on the Panera menu seems at least 25% too high

I remember the abomination that was the Tropicana rebrand cause I complained to my wife for accidentally buying the supermarket generic brand instead of Tropicana before I looked at the bottle again. What an embarrassment that was for them

Agreed - tried the Trader Joes and it was like eating a mouthful of dill.  Tossed the bag after a few bites

Similarly, I will never forget being behind someone at Starbucks or ordered a small coffee with five splendas and two sugars. I think I just stared agape at the person for a good 2-3 minutes

We almost put an offer on a house solely because the lady that lived there was making sunday sauce when we went for a tour and the house was filled with the amazing aroma of sausages and tomatoes

I too was a Hot Mustard guy growing up (nuggets and fries). When they took away Hot Mustard and that was the last time I ordered McNuggets. Really was the best sauce. I rarely go to McD’s any more (< once per year) so have no idea if its NY is one of the regions where it has come back or not but if I definitively knew

A local deli near me has text to order. It’s perfect. Type into a text “Bacon egg and cheese on a toasted roll” and boom, done. Then they print out your text and give it to the grill guys who fill it. Dont know a better system and didnt need some over engineered AI to accomplish

The only time I didn’t remove the radish greens right when I got home, I awoke the next day to a gross, slimy mass of green mush in the bag. Since then I remove as soon as I get home from the supermarket.

Fuck Gordon Ramsey but if close to 100% of the restaurants were going to fail without him (and I dont know if they were all on the precipice of failure or if that was BS) and 22% made it through, I’d say that’s pretty damn good.

Depending where I am, sometimes I plan and make dinner reservations, other places I don’t, but I always do some research to find the good local restaurants, street food, etc.
