I always found something about the CLS-class poseurish (but the original is MUCH better than its successors). However, that drivetrian erases everything. When my wife's Accord needs to be taken out and shot, the best E63 wagon we can afford is my all-time dream replacement.

This doesn't surprise me at all from what I've read. I prefer RWD and only own my first AWD car because it was the only thing that had a clutch pedal and would fit two rear-facing baby seats and two dogs (Subie Outback). Now if I could only find time to find a dirt road... which was my only motivation to get AWD and

I loved both my used BMWs (E39 and E46) but someone said it right that BMWs are designed to perform first and be reliable second, wearing through whatever parts to optimized performance (i.e. front control arm bushings, brakes, window regulators). OK the last one is just a mystery. The other major problem is BMWs tend

Isn't the X1 the only BMW sold in America available with an old-school (to me that means naturally-aspirated) straight-6? And it isn't even available with a stick, so that makes it pretty much pointless. In a couple years I'll probably get a 128i or another NA 3-series as a commuter. Maybe a E60 550i 6-speed.

How about a 25-year rule car? You go to Europe and buy it, drive it around there for a vacation, then bring it here and federalize it. Something like this http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-b… but with a manual, of course.

Here's one almost as good at $2200 (reserve not met)

You guys can have all your heartbreak AMG stuff. I'll be driving this gorgeous big black low mileage W140 until the day I die.

Any automatic/PDK sports car/sedan

"Those of you familiar with German humor will see that this is a joke. A bad joke, but hey, it's German."

The whole line-up is uninspiring. What about a 230i mini wagon (based on the RWD platform), 3.0L six, no turbo, cloth sport seats, manual everything.

I never under why an AWD Carrera needs to exist except the original (959). Maybe if you're the kinda person who'd kill yourself in the GT3, get the Turbo. But otherwise Carrera 2 or GT3 or GTFO. If you can afford a Carrera, surely you can afford an Audi wagon or a truck as a winter driver?

I can't ever get excited about any Audi made in the last 20 years (drove a European RS5 once and it was fast as hell but drove like a dull computer game), but I like this. Would make a perfect daily driver with 5 doors, blue, clutch pedal. Shame we won't get it.
