I know a lot of people are taking off work if they can around this time, but I personally prefer to keep working. Would rather have something to occupy my mind and time in the next few days. Working remotely so dealing with possible “civil unrest” getting to and from work is thankfully not a concern.

You’re probably better off in one of these little tents than crammed into the restaurant’s indoor dining room, but that’s not saying much.”

Wouldn’t somewhere far away from other humans be a great place to be if there is violence going on (presumably in the city)?

As someone who doesn’t drink home brew coffee daily (often subbing in tea or going out for it once or twice a week), I have the opposite issue to a lot of people. A pound of coffee takes me forever to get through.

One of my favorite bars used to have a rotating list of $3 shots of whatever leftover flavored alcohol they had around (cinnamon tequila, cucumber vodka, etc.). Some were better than others. Always a fun night there, although the next day was never fun.

In fact, in Nietzsche’s view, only those who are frustrated and resentful feel the need to resort to elevating themselves by putting others down, or by finding gratification in their setbacks.”

I use a garlic press now, but before I got a dishwasher the difficulty of cleaning it was enough to make me never want to use a press. I’d nearly always have the cutting board and knife out to chop other things. So chopping the garlic by hand didn’t create any extra dishes that I wouldn’t have needed to do anyway.

It makes sense to wear it for the drive thru where you are still in contact with a person, but idk about it being necessary for delivery. Can’t you just look through the peep hole and wait a second before opening the door if they’re still there? Or include in the instructions for them to leave it on the ground?

It’s unfair and frankly stupid that we have to worry about other illnesses while a pandemic rages its way through our country.”

I mean you have plenty of other opportunities to make your kids do what you tell them to do just in normal life. Why add an extra instance of making your kids follow orders when you don’t have to? It’s not like they won’t have to follow your commands hundreds of other times in other circumstances just because you are

But why other than just showing your power over them do you need them and it can’t wait 10 minutes? If you actually need them that’s one thing (like, you need a spare pair of hands right this second to keep the dog from running out the door or something). But most chores are not time-limited to that extent. And if

I mean I know some people live this way, but I would hope that the proportion of people who feel so unsafe where they live that they can’t go outside for a walk in broad daylight is pretty small. Unless you mean something different than unsafe when you say “uncomfortable”? The only other major barrier I can think of

A lot of the non-traditional workouts you list are very cardio/lower body focused. And for those that do incorporate more strength elements or upper body like climbing or acrobatics, those generally have a higher barrier to entry (require more training, or are more expensive) than traditional workouts. A lot of people

Idk why cinnamon ice cream is not more of a thing. It’s my favorite flavor, but it’s so hard to find in stores or even ice cream shops.

Idk I’m in one of the densest places around (Brooklyn) and I’ve never seen the streets on Halloween packed enough for distancing to be a problem. But yeah if you live in an area that is like the person below describes, I agree you shouldn’t take your kid out in that case.

Trick or treating seems like one of the few fun things for kids that’s actually still safe to do right now? It’s outdoors and easy to do physically distanced. I’m all for taking the pandemic seriously, but I think you could still do that and still take your kids trick or treating.

I used to go out for Polish food with my grandpa as a kid. They had blintzes on the menu. I was allowed to order them as a dinner (including the fruit ones) even though they are basically dessert. This felt like the greatest loophole ever invented to 8-year-old me.

If you want to go the natural consequences route, now would be a great time to teach the lesson before it gets too cold! Let the kid be freezing and regret not wearing their coat while it’s in the 40s, and then you won’t have to fight them on wearing it all winter.

On the other hand, though, it’s not like most vitamins are very expensive. So assuming they aren’t harmful, even if any positive effects are just placebo, this seems like not the best reason to recommend against them.

True, but they have no way of knowing for sure that you definitely never vote Republican just because you’re a registered Democrat. And that’s assuming they aren’t just checking your address to see if it’s in their district rather than actually checking up on your voter info specifically.
