Unfortunately, it wasn't Audra who was doing the singing, it was Streep. Big mistake.

Just saw it. The answer is, pretty bad. First of all, Streep is no rock singer, though the band was great. Listening to her sing these songs (there were lots of full-length numbers) hurt my ears. If Demme was trying to demonstrate why Ricki never made it, he succeeded. Also, I disagree with the reviewer's

Actually, Chuck E is a real person. I've met him. He's a jazz guy famous in certain circles in L.A. Pretty cool guy. I can see why Rickie wrote about him.

Totally agree. I miss the great theme songs. In college, we used to sing them together in the cafeteria.

"My Mother the Car" had a great theme song, in spite of its ridiculous plot.

Where is the whole theme song? Everyone always shows the abbreviated one you posted. There another whole verse: "People yakety-yak the street and waste your time of day, but Mr. ED will never speak unless he has something to say. A horse is a horse of course, of course, and this one will talk to his master's

Nope, sorry. This song is about a dog. A lovely English Sheepdog named Martha. Not Jane Asher. Never Jane Asher. Nope.

Think that was probably a reference to the book, where I've heard that Ethan had been unfrozen and refrozen a couple of times before. And when they decided to drop that storyline, they just left the line in because it sounded mysterious. Sloppy writing.

In a way, it was worse than Under The Dome. Because that show was based on a pretty lousy book, and had an utterly ridiculous premise. So I never took it seriously at all. WP, in contrast, really intrigued me, and I did take it seriously. The concept was great; the execution, not so much. I just kept thinking

True, but as producer, he would have read the scripts. And he certainly would have had the power to tell the writers that the plot had ten million holes in it, and they need to rewrite. He didn't, so that makes him ultimately responsible. It sounds more like he read those scripts had said, shoot them, sure! People

Here's a question. Amy said she graduated 3 months ago, and was fully qualified. If they froze all the adults, who was doing the teaching?

Just looked up the definition of Thelemite. Nope. Nothing about covering oneself up.

There are holes in body armor? Really? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking. Why would they do that? Wouldn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of body armor?

i don't think that was Ethan. I rewound it several times, and it was just someone who resembled him. Besides, Ethan didn't try to leave, in the end, so the sign wouldn't have made sense for him. Not that it made sense, anyway.

But why did both groups set cars on fire?

Bodies. Hanging bodies. And since everyone in the FG presumably knows what's outside the gates, why would anyone try to leave? The closeup on the sign hanging around the neck of one of the bodies read, "Don't try to leave." Who in their right mind would try to leave? So they could be eaten by Abbies? SMH.

Yeah, but here's a poser. If WP is the only place on Earth not overrun by Abbies, wouldn't they want to put a limit on reproduction, rather than encouraging unbridled breeding? Food shortages and lack of space would eventually become a problem. You wouldn't want a WP bursting at the seams with people. It's not

Except that Amy says, twice, that they put the adults in stasis. And Ben, too. Because they thought he might be like his father. And she convinced them to let him out early. So no, they didn't just find them that way.
