@KLondike5: It's just not in me. I can't stand the idea of using obscure words to sound smarter than I am.

@Caeristhiona.the.Fresh.Prince.of.JezeBelAir: I don't remember seeing the show, unfortunately. My brother loved Land Before Time but I thought it was SO. BORING. (It didn't help that he's the type of person who will watch his favorite thing 20 times in a row.)
@no clever name: This is why I quit playing with girl toys when I was 8. They are so boring!
@KLondike5: Totally. I'm an engineer and still feel kind of bad that I don't "talk the talk." I do a ton of technical writing though and it's actually an asset b/c my work is very easy to understand.
@Caeristhiona.the.Fresh.Prince.of.JezeBelAir: Have you seen dinotopia? My brother was obsessed with that when he was little and it does have people riding dino's in it.
@la.donna.pietra: Yeah can we just make this a dad life rule- never ever ever ever make negative comments on women's appearances around your daughter.
@msmoneypenny misses MizJ: I would have killed to go to Space Camp. I wasn't allowed to go, but for some reason my parents did send my brother a few years later. I was so mad! (Ironically I have a career in science and engineering while he wants nothing to do with it.)
@shellybean: And this is despite having some pretty sub-par chemistry and physics teachers. My mom was an awesome biology teacher, but I didn't have any interest in biology until I got to grad school- and I ultimately decided not to pursue anything biological when I chose my career.
I'm a chemical engineer and I never outgrew science. The toys I loved included a microscope with slides, a Jr. Chemistry Kit, and a telescope. I had a seashell collection and a bug collection and I'm still mad that my parents wouldn't buy me a rock polisher.
@LoveBugBecky: Lucky. I'm a non-chubby, non-lazy lady and I have zero definition in my abs. I think it's a body type thing. I am apple shaped and also a bit of an ectomorph, so my itsy bitsy muscles aren't going to show through my layer of softness regardless of how many crunches I do.
@clearsight: Interesting. It may be that they were being oblivious at the time, or that my perception of creepy is different than other women's... I just know that of the few guys I've consistently thought of as creepy- they were repeatedly inappropriate and totally clueless about why what they were doing was not okay.
In discussions with my guy friends about whether or not they are "creepy" (they're not) one common thread is that genuine creepy guys don't know that they are creepy- and they ruin it for everyone else.
True story, this morning my coworker told me he'd printed out and article he thought I'd be interested in. It was about the whole "pill changes your sense of smell and makes you choose a mate who's immune system is too much like your own" thing and it was labeled "women on the pill pick the wrong mate."
My altered brain, unoccupied uterus, and I are doing just fine.
@BadDecisionDinosaur: Me. But I'm pretty "ish." :)
@KayKins: This is the situation with my family as well. And it's really frustrating for me because they love to tell me that the food I eat is gross and that running will put me in a wheelchair by the time I'm 40.
@peoplevsgnomes: Exactly! I feel like I've gotten to watch her grow up to some extent and I appreciate that she's shared her life with her reader's in that way (especially in light of said events- she is so strong!)
@deeleigh: I think it would be very relatable and readable. I honestly think that if people (regardless of their BMI) who eat the standard American diet were to exercise more and eat more vegetables and not lose weight they would still reap the majority of health benefits we associate with weight loss.
@peoplevsgnomes: Especially with Jenna, it's been really interesting to follow her on her journey. While some of her earlier posts may be considered "triggering," I think it's been really interesting and inspiring to watch her attitude towards food, fitness and life evolve as she's faced a lot of challenges in the…
@tankearae: Whether or not you feel that it's hypocritical of Marie Claire, at the best, I think it reeks of "concern trolling" and at worst, it is intentionally misleading.
