I agree using it to weed out people for protected reasons such as religion or sexual orientation would be bad. But would you want someone to post how much they love their job at XYZ Company with the next post about all the meth they do or how exactly a racial group is sub-human?  It’s like any tool, it can be used for

They were supposed to be meeting their buses there.  The adults should have just rounded everyone up and walked away until they saw the buses.  If they got the kids out of there, we would have never heard about this.

I’ve said it on other posts, but if you don’t do a social media search on prospective employees in today’s day and age; you’re a fool.  In ~5 years, everyone will have forgotten about this but the internet never forgets.  I don’t know what kind of connections his family has, but if I saw something like this in an

My overriding memory of Chicken a la king is from MREs. Break up some crackers into the main meal packet, add a dash of pepper and most of the Tobasco, and viola - a meal fit for pulling guard duty in the rain. If you’re lucky you got a gorilla bar to chase it.

I worked for a Fortune 50 company for ~a decade. I would travel 3-4 months a year, a week at a time, with half that being international. I’m married with three offspring. Your points are all dead nuts on. I was able to finance a couple vacations on points which didn’t make up for the hassle. The other issues was the

No, there’s not a database. But when you’re hiring, you do a social media search for your perspective new employee. If this picture comes up for this kid’s name in 10 years, there are going to be people who will second guess the hire. I’ve turned away people who post about the amount of partying/ drugs they do as I

Promposals fall into this category as well. We’ve had 2 through high school; 1 boy, 1 girl.  Our iron clad rule was don’t.  It makes it all about you, the proposer, rather than you, the couple.

In trying to explain this to my 12 year old, I told them everyone involved was wrong, but the kids were extra wrong. Had they walked away, we wouldn’t even known this existed.

I look back at some of the shenanigans I got into as a kid 20-odd years ago. It was never anything racist or vile, but teen mischief like roof surfing and trespassing on construction sites. Had someone had a cell phone camera back then, I’d probably be a youtube star for being an idiot. Kids today can’t make a mistake

The kids asked their teachers to do school spirit chants/songs to counter the slurs.  Why the hell didn’t the adults say “no, walk away.”  There were chaperones there that sure as hell should have known better.  Your course of action is always the right one, but a group of adults coulnd’t come up with it.

If the controllers and TSA called in sick Sunday and Monday, this would be resolved by Wednesday. Imagine all the business travelers and vacationers stranded with now way to get to their destination and little recourse. The immediate impact to the economy would be massive. People would be screaming at their reps.

The other factor unions have failed to address is globalization. When you pit labor against management, management realizes they can make it cheaper with less headache in a low cost country and move there.

I’ve been around both union and non-union manufacturing for 20+ years. I’ve seen way more corruption and mismanagement in that time than virtuous leadership. It’s not a bug of current unions, its a feature.

Mea Culpa! I didn’t read all the way through. Glad to see it is backed up from multiple sources.

As much as a bombshell as this can be, where’s the corroboration? Reading the report, it sounds like this came from Cohen himself. He’s got no reason now to lie about this, but to nail Trump any good prosecutor will want a second source. Is there a recording, email confirming it, or another witness in the room who can

It’s also interesting how those who are rabidly anti-GMO are very much behind climate change and vise versa. They believe in one set of scientists, but not the other.

The best comment I’ve heard about this is that Trump act like a hobo thinks a rich guy would. I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited into the homes of a few real rich people (not paper rich like Trump), and their style can be described as “restrained.”   What they have is clearly high quality, but it’s subdued.

100 mile rule. If you’re within 100 miles of an international border, ICE can pick you up. Add to that he has a Hispanic-origin name and wasn’t being a good boy, and BINGO! ICE has a winner.

A big part of the problem is when the rules changed where student debt coulnd’t be absolved in bankruptcy. Since both the colleges and the government knew they were getting their money regardless of the student’s ability to pay, there was no reason to do means testing or evaluation of how much a comparative philosophy

Not just STEM, but trades as well. A friend of the family is an electrician who owns his own business. He’s been working for 25+ years and regularly clears $150k annually, before he adds in side jobs and special contracts. He doesn’t have a single college credit to his name. I had an allied trades section in the Army
