Sure, but that conclusion is not, “This person obviously wanted me to see this book.” Like, they live there. The place is full of their stuff and it can have a purpose other than impressing visitors.

A lot of people are less concerned with how “interesting” their job is and more concerned about being able to afford food, shelter, basic medical care, etc.  You can have a care for them even if their job isn’t sufficiently interesting for you.
