I took a class at a local knitting shop. Maybe one in your town offers them? If not, there are a million tutorials on youtube and how-to books out there. It’s really difficult at first; but once you master the basics, the world is your oyster!

Aw, shucks, thank you! It’s funny, I could never graduate beyond the basics of knitting. Couldn’t even pearl stitch. I blame it on my left-handedness. The woman who taught me said that people who are great at knitting have trouble getting the hang of tatting, so I suppose that’s why I took to it?
