Well, the title shot at the end looks exactly like 28 Days Later. And the rest "kinda" I suppose.

Ahh, I thought the image stabilization was to compensate for atmospheric distortions. Thanks to all for the replies.

Question. Does image stabilization on ground based telescopes make space-based telescopes less necessary? How effective is the image stablization? I suppose you still have the issue of light pollution, no small one at that.

No Sasso, no Marlo Meekins, no Keelayjams. Not the best that Vine has to offer.

He used the qualifier "intolerant" to distinguish from tolerant religious folk, no need to jump on him for making that distinction. It's universally agreed that intolerant people of any persuasion make the world a shitty place.

"We've got to restore power to our shields or we'll burn up on re-entry!"

Not to mention the unlikelihood that one species could feed an entire ecosystem.

Let me get this straight, because I have an opinion that is upsetting to you, you have enough information to presume that I haven't done anything? I did nothing on this mish-mash, thank god. Don't take it so hard. You'll probably do good work some day, you seem to really care about this stuff. But you won't learn

Yeah, there's a lot to not like here. But those jumped out at me too. Terrible writing also , "the fusion of___combined with___" "sophisticated encryption software"

Yeah, there's a lot to not like here. But those jumped out at me too. Terrible writing also , "the fusion of advanced medical technology combined with the science of space exploration technology" "sophisticated encryption software" eesh.

Jared Diamond has a lot to say about this. Very roughly, the vertical orientation of the Americas impeded the mobility of agriculture.

I like that idea. They clearly thought about the sound in space thing. I suspect the investors like to be involved in the marketing of a film. With sound being such an effective emotional manipulator, Cuaron would've had to really fight for a quieter trailer.

Point taken. Unfortunately sound is used in storytelling to draw attention to an event. They've used an interesting approach to this problem in the trailer by blending what would seem to be sounds with the score, sort of an implied diagesis. Admittedly, most people will perceive them as sounds.

Microsoft is not buying Apple in parts. It is buying Dell in parts.

Maybe someone else can chime in, but I'm pretty sure the uncertainty principle is limited to the position and mass of a particle. I don't think it means you can never actually study stuff.

Spot on. And when people realize that they won't be able to experience the transfer first hand, there won't be much interest in brain uploads. This whole enterprise is motivated by immortality, which it doesn't provide.

Oh God yes. Smartphones and tablets are a musician's best friend. Voice memos for quick idea capture, pictures of equipment settings, Animoog.

Our present science doesn't support the ABILITY to detect life outside our solar system. It's good to be skeptical, but you also have to be honest about our current technical limitations.

Evolution only describes how life changes over time. "The Fittest" only applies to the context of other living creatures. We don't know much about the origin of life.

"honed in on a sun-like star" should be "homed in" #corrections
