“Great article.”
“Great article.”
$5M to go away (assuming he gets paid out for his 2020 deal) AND he doesn’t have to continue with that dumpster fire of an organization?
Sounds like a pretty good way to start the week.
Yeah it’s the longest of long cons. Pretend to be a fan of an MLB team and spend thousands of dollars on concessions and tickets just so you can participate in a chant to get back at those damn natives! Genius!
Ok so that’s crazy to me. You are saying that the people doing “the chop” are specifically doing it to be racist toward native Americans, and not in support of their team. Like, it has nothing to do with something they’ve done their entire lives as a means of support and rallying cry towards their favorite baseball…
Honest question, do you really think all Braves fans who do "the chop" in support of their team, are racist people?
It bothers me that the Green Wave wears sky blue head-to-toe.
“There were many field goals, and a safety, and Cam Newton was atrocious. There.”
“Just what I always wanted… My own little foul ball… I will name him George and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him…”
I like him. He clearly does research on the players, which is a lot because the Yankees this year is basically fielding a full Yankees team and most of Scranton WB. He brings a bit of silliness and, dare I say fun, into the Yankees broadcast. His voice is instantly recognizable enough and I give him credit for…
Yeah, same here. I grew up listening to Yankees games with Sterling and Kay on the radio—because my parents didn’t think watching Yankees games 3 hours a night was a good idea—and I’ve just gotten used to him. He’s goofy and his home run calls can be tiring, but other than some standard-issue light homerism, I’ve…
At this point, the majority of Yankee fans have grown up with Sterling, so he’s got a certain appeal based on nostalgia alone.
The common refrain is that there are 2 Yankee games played every night: the actual game, and the game John/Suzyn are describing on the radio.
They’re both totally wacky and don’t always know…
Sports are meant to be silly and fun. If some guy who calls AAA games were doing the same thing, Deadspin would tag it under “Whimsy” and the guy would be a cult hero for a day or two around here.
I like him because I don’t take myself too seriously. And hearing plenty of interviews with him he knows what he’s doing. It’s goofy and certainly not for everybody but I prefer that to some psycho like Jack Edwards or Tommy Heinsohn who scream bloody murder every time a call goes against the home team
Not sure if there's a Sox article coming so I'll just leave this here: The Boston Red Sox have by far the highest payroll in the majors and are a flaming pile of feces. To all the people in my childhood who whined and whined and WHINED about the Yankees buying championships, Fuck You. That is all.
The Devil Went Down to Day Care
“We’ve switched the Diamonbacks’ bullpen with the Mets’. Let’s see if anyone notices.”
Another great liberal anti-football propaganda piece, Nate. You do realize nobody held a gun to your head and made you play football right? I guess it was totally worth it when you were bullying nerds and banging cheerleaders in high school.
Sorry Deadspin, but in the US soccer world, ur only slightly better than TMZ.
Unlike stadiums, corporate tax breaks have actually proven to be EXTREMELY beneficial for cities and there is almost no precedent for FIFTY THOUSAND jobs being created at one time. Amazon and Microsoft almost single handily turned Seattle into a major employment hub and provide billions of dollars in annual tax…
