I’m always amused how non-sports media seem to feel the need to call anyone a “star” or “great.” When Chris Dudley ran for governor of Oregon, he was constantly being referred to as “former NBA star.”

If he doesn’t want to start Roethlisberger, why is he wearing a DTS#7 bracelet?

“That’s not a Marcus Thornton. THIS is a Marcus Thornton.”
I don’t have anything to add to your comment, but had to reply because of the user name.
“it’s almost difficult to believe it did launch such a massive franchise.”
“Also, Newt still thinks Hillary’s a bitch.”
How dare you not mention Chuck Klosterman in this article? You think Tom Brady just interviewed himself? Stay classy, Deadspin
I love the concept where it makes sense — UCLA vs. USC in their home jerseys is glorious. I can think of some NFL match-ups, like Raiders-Niners, where it would be great. But since this seems like it was just a contrived corporate partnership gimmick, I’m glad it blew up in the NFL’s face.

“You think I play football to poke people in the eye? No, I play it to poke them in the head!”
The missed knee isn’t botching the rules, it’s an error of judgment/perception.Botching the rules in that case would be if they thought his knee was down but didn’t realize that means the play is over. Here, the ACC was willing to admit errors of judgment and perception, but they’re lying to avoid having to admit the…
What I’m saying is that it’s pretty clear they did use instant replay to overturn the penalty, and now they’re just lying about it. If the refs botched the rules (as opposed to a judgment call) to put the winning points on the board, that would be a stronger case for overturning the results. So that’s the one thing…
The claim that the refs didn’t use replay to pick up the block in the back penalty, but that the ref just screwed up when he said the replay showed no block in the back, is pretty dubious. It seems to me they went as far as they could in admitting fault without having to consider overturning the result.
You can’t. Only reviewable penalties are illegal forward lateral, 12 men on field, and offsides on a kickoffwww.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/FBC15.pdf
Oh man, I can’t wait for Simmons’ petulant denial about forcing the editors to blindside ESPN.
“Going by who he poached here—not all that great a thing to be going on, admittedly—Simmons would seem to be setting up a more pop culture-based site than a sports-focused one.”
Keri doesn’t seem very likely to me. He’s a baseball guy more than a Simmons guy, and ESPN provides far greater access to and exposure in MLB circles than Simmons could.
Can we please get the word out that these “haha, look at me, I don’t know/care about social media” jokes stopped being funny years ago. Also, Marchman’s on notice that “DraftDuel” “FanKings” isn’t any better.
My guess for the first one would be Carlos Baerga. It’s a Puerto Rico area code, and I think Baerga was his manager in the winter league in 2013.
