Why is the US dub always so bad? Just watched the Japanese version and wow...

Whatever else the movie did wrong, the idea of ‘TLJ ruining Luke’ from ‘hardcore’ fans is the most hilarious misunderstanding of Star Wars characters, lore and philosophy they could muster.

The strange part is that it was the last Star Wars movie. Like, they said it was supposed to be a trilogy, but the third movie never materialized. Still, I’m pretty satisfied with the ending of TLJ.

This movie is fucking awesome and an excellent addition to the Star Wars saga.

A couple of months ago, I rewatched this series in the lead up to finally seeing Toy Story 4. And I don’t think it’s crazy to compare the Toy Story series to movies like the Antoine Doinel Adventures, the Up Series, or the Before Trilogy.

One bright spot, especially for an Icelandic-American like myself...our dear Hildur Gudmundottir is the first female composer to be nominatef for an oscar. And she is going to win. Hu!!!!

The Destiny comparison is on-point. There are obvious artifacts of the plot lines that had been planned and not included and the movie spins its wheels with fetch quests until something really happens.

The film over-corrected in reaction to the franchise’s worst fans and was a finale that had to retcon and undercut so many things about the saga to make itself work.

Saw it last night. A few thoughts:

Honestly if they just stuck with the idea that her parents were nobodies it would have made it so much better.
