Oh, my bad. I’ve had to explain US sororities and fraternities to my confused overseas friends, so my impression was that this is a US thing. 

It’s a uniquely US institution. Sororities and Fraternities have chapters in universities across the US, it’s a social club/network. You typically pay dues and, when joining, go through a hazing ritual meant to foster community identity.

I kind of sort of remember that? I can see there being a lot of sorority members on this site, I was mostly surprised that they were soliciting stories about rushing during a pandemic, which would need to come from current students, or the class of ‘18-19... from the last century.
