New nutrition labeling rules require you to declare if your juice has added sugar or not. It’s not the same as calling it “artificial,” but the FDA is requiring you to make a distinction between the sugars present in single strength juice, and additional sugar, in its various forms.
I hesitate to call it stupid, since it has meaning for the vast majority of people. It’s just that when you try to lock down a definition, it’s clear it’s a subjective term. It has a place, but I personally try not to use it.
