Arthouse and alternative kind of necessarily mean not mainstream. I can see what you mean that they’re on their way already, with their higher subscription price and lower subscriber numbers this last quarter... but to me that also signals the start of a downward spiral.
I think them greenlighting a lot of stuff built up a lot of goodwill among the creative community, in addition to consumers such as myself. It’ll be interesting to see if that kind of “soft power” ends up paying dividends later.
