I disagree. I think the setting and background is more important than the story for most games, for games like AC, I can see your argument for the heavy reliance on story there being needed to keep your interest, but honestly I think that's a major knock against the game.

Ive played through both multiple times and besides the massive size of some of the bosses in D3 i think they are both about the same level of quality and both lacking polish. Like you pointed out though game wise PoE is the much better experience.
