The problem is I dont think game reviewers understand where the art in a video game is. The art is in the gameplay, not the interesting story, or touching some resonant chord due to that story. Bioshock is a great example. It was a terrible game gameplay wise. The fact that they are saying how well did it accomplish conveying the non gameplay factors shows that even the critique of reviewers isnt targeting the right criteria.

It is currently flawed. Game reviews are so intent on getting respect from a broader community that they forget they are reviewing games. I've seen too many shitty games graded well because of presentation and not gameplay, or because of "What it was trying to do with the story."
