I love Muddy Waters but something like this was far apart from what he was doing. To be fair I think that Bland was one of those people who matured before genre definitions hardened.
=) A lot of the people in Bland's classic bands went on to greater success in funk/soul/r&B/blues groups, including Jabo Starks, drummer with Mr. James Brown. I think that Bland can arguably fit into blues and R&B equally.
