I loved the fight scene set to The Cure’s Disintegration. When Ant-Man & The Wasp referenced Morrissey I realized that these films starring my fake best friend Paul Rudd were Tailor-made for me. The third one will probably have New Order somehow to complete my favorite musical artists trifecta.

Thanks. I do like King a lot. Somehow the two other times in my life when I was on a King kick I never got around to The Shining. I bet if I actually looked back I would be shocked to see that I haven’t read much of his work at all.

I’m finally getting around to reading Stephen King’s The Shining, which has been on my Goodreads “to-read” list for 8 years. I hope I like it.

I take it she has never seen the Prequels and all the Younglings?

Okay, he is not a moustache twirling villain. And yeah, he’s a handsome dude. But pushing Bran from a window, aligning with Cersei, confronting Ned, etc etc all made him a “bad guy.”

Those reasons are in-story reasons he is a bad guy. In Westeros you don’t Kingslay. You also don’t bring harm to dinner guests, which is why in story no one particularly likes the Freys, even their allies.

And somehow, he cheats death by falling into incredibly shallow water and washing up miles away from the army that just decimated his troops so that he can make an easy escape with Bronn.

I haven’t watched it. I remember the Supernatural elements, but those weren’t the Terror for me. As you say, the starving, disease, mutiny, etc is harrowing in and of itself.

Is it a good read though? Both The Terror and Pet Sematary were page-turners for me.

It wasn’t even so much his lack of taste but rather the fact that the book was so similar to his own. “Read this book. It’s great! In fact it is just like mine!”

You probably want to move in closer as well. Fill the frame with the subject.

I too am attracted to Gwyneth Paltrow. I crushed on her hard during the Shakespeare in Love years.

In a way I guess it was. It was preceded by hundreds of pages of...well...terror. The only other book I read by Simmons was Summer of Night which was so similar to and inferior to Stephen King’s It that I was surprised to see King’s blurb on the back of the book. . I think I heard something about Simmons being cuckoo

correction on 3. The so-amazing-it’s-amazing Ramones song.

That’s pretty much what King felt about it as well. I read it before I had children. I’m not sure if I could re-read it now.

I think we can just call it being an asshole.

io9 has a similar headline.

I always thought they were more Chaotic Neutral, doing whatever the fuck they wanted whenever the fuck they wanted.

It was a god damn commercial?!?

Man I was obsessed with the XBox version. I had the giant guide to the game, it was full of post-its to help me along. I think I only got through about an eighth of the game even with all that study. It was just so fun to walk around. Sneaky side-steps were my favorite.
