I feel like there’s a time and a place - usually on scrambled eggs - particularly bad to mediocre scrambled eggs and no I’m not talking soft scramble. This also goes for American style omelets. If you’re choking down eggs, ketchup helps lubricate and mask flavor.

Don’t forget margarine was still popular to cook with in the 90s. I’ve seen plenty of non-Alabaman cookbooks of that era and prior call for margarine (I was recently scouring my aunt’s cookbooks for family recipes).
