They did it so Peter can watch the recording of her speech at the end of the movie and get the motivation to move on without her and be Spider-Man again. Just lazy screenwriting.

I don’t think that would give enough variation in gameplay honestly. Once you get into it, the mechanics feel pretty similar to playing Mario just with extra randomized baddies. IMHO, adaptation is a better show of skills in a competition game like this than pure memorization of optimal routes.

Idk, I feel like a lot of the emotional pay-off was due to how good the second movie was and the charm of the first. SM3 is bloated and filled with terrible and unnecessary moments and only rewards you in the last 5 minutes out of 2 hours and 20 minutes. Kamala and Miles have been my favorite new additions to the superhero pantheon in the last decade, and Sony finally did Miles some justice in Spiderverse, so I know the actual MCU is going to do good things with her.
