C’mon. About midway through the point, both guys just decided they were being funny. That’s pretty rare in any competitive professional sports event. Then it went so long it became an Andy Kaufman bit. Whole thing was kind of brilliant.

Clown might have been a strong word. I think he fooled them a bit. They definitely don’t need to go making a new rule though. That would, indeed, be silly.

I had the same thought when I watched it. He made a motion. But he kept it just subtle enough to get away with it. He clowned the refs as much as he clowned the other team.

VAR is always bad in league play. Over a 34-game season, there is no reason to go to a little monitor, disrupt the flow of the game, and rule out a cool goal. A few missed calls are going to be fine over the course of that long season.
